Podiums and Team Award Highlight Exciting Weekend at VIR for RP Motorsports by Forte Racing

Team’s 2025 McLaren Trophy America Season Continues to Drive Awareness and Support for Relapsing Polychondritis and Related Autoimmune Disease Research

Monrovia, CA (Wednesday, July 23, 2025) – RP Motorsports by Forte Racing delivered a weekend full of grit, teamwork, and results at Virginia International Raceway, securing multiple podiums and taking home the team award after standout drives in both McLaren Trophy America races.

Co-drivers Neil Langberg and Kevin Madsen fought their way through the field on Saturday to earn a second-place finish in the AM class. The moment was made even more special with Race for RP special guest Nancy Linn cheering from the sidelines, as Langberg added to the team’s success with a second-place Papaya Cup podium in Race 1.

Sunday began with a standout qualifying performance by Madsen, putting the No. 53 McLaren Trophy EVO on the overall pole. He built nearly a ten-second lead before a full-course caution bunched up the field. After a driver change, Langberg led the field on the restart but dropped a wheel while defending his position, costing valuable track position. Despite the setback, he battled back to claim a third-place Papaya Cup podium. Topping off the weekend, the team’s collective effort earned them the weekend’s team award.

Langberg, a passionate advocate for the Race for RP mission and a key part of the No. 53 lineup, praised the team’s determination and unity throughout the weekend. From overcoming challenges on track to securing multiple podiums, he was quick to credit the crew’s relentless effort and shared commitment to success.

“It’s all about the team this weekend,” Langberg said. “Lots of awareness but the guys worked tirelessly, in the heat and humidity, from dawn to dusk… twice to get the car back on track. Thus, we won the team award for the weekend. And the old guy captured 2 Papaya Awards. Never alone. No ‘I’ in team. As Shane says, if we win, it’s as a team!”

Madsen reflected proudly on a weekend that delivered meaningful results both on and off the track. From race-leading pace and podium finishes to impactful fundraising efforts, he highlighted the collective effort of the team, McLaren, and the Race for RP community in making the weekend a success. A new Hot Laps promotion — powered by the McLaren 750S — raised significant funds for autoimmune disease research, underscoring the deeper purpose behind the team’s mission.

“Lots to say as this was a very special weekend!” Madsen said. “Nancy was able to join us at a race for the first time this season! We also had so many of her fun family and friends out. I loved sharing some insights from the weekend with them. Shane’s family was there too, and his daughter celebrated her 17th birthday with us. The team including Frankie, James, Guy, Garrison, Chucho, David, Pete, Jon, Jake, Reagan and Judy were working countless hours in the humid heat all weekend and I’m so proud and thankful to each of them. I feel every person present helped us to collectively score P2 in Race 1, an Overall Pole in Q2, all that time leading Race 2, 2 podiums in Papaya Cup for Neil and the Team recognition award. Thanks to all our fans and friends who messaged about our performance and the airtime we received. On top of that we raised a lot of research funds for the RP Foundation with the McLaren 750S Hot Laps rides I gave that Dave masterfully spearheaded. So yeah, a super special weekend for our mission and I’m very thankful to all who contributed in person and at home.”

With standout drives, deep community engagement, and successful fundraising for the Race for RP mission, the weekend at VIR captured the heart of what RP Motorsports by Forte Racing is all about. Team Principal Shane Seneviratne emphasized the importance of preparation, adaptability, and purpose — qualities that carried the team through the challenges of a demanding race weekend.

“Weekends like this are the result of everyone pulling in the same direction,” said Seneviratne. “The drivers executed well, the crew pushed through some tough conditions, and we stayed focused as a team. I’m proud of the way we rebounded, adapted, and ultimately delivered — both on track and in support of the Race for RP mission. That balance of competition and cause is what makes this program special. When you combine performance with purpose, it creates something much more meaningful — and that’s exactly what we saw at VIR.
Next up, the No. 53 RP Motorsports by Forte Racing McLaren Trophy EVO takes on the legendary Road America circuit, August 15–17.
