Monrovia, California (Tuesday, September 30, 2025) – Forte Racing, a rising force in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, and McLaren Trophy America, is proud to announce a significant step forward in its sustainability efforts: the integration of hydrogen-powered vehicles into its ground logistics fleet.
Forte Racing has incorporated hydrogen fuel cell vehicles into its operations since 2021, making it one of the first North American race teams to do so. With a continued commitment to innovation and responsibility, the team’s current fleet includes two Toyota Mirai and two Hyundai Nexo models, which are used to support logistics and operations at race events. These hydrogen-powered vehicles provide a clean and efficient way to transport personnel and equipment while reducing the overall carbon footprint of race weekends. By adopting this technology, Forte Racing is actively cutting emissions and demonstrating that motorsport and sustainability can go hand in hand.
“Motorsport is inherently resource-intensive, especially with the amount of fuel we burn on track,” said Shane Seneviratne, Team Principal of Forte Racing. “While we continue to pursue performance at the highest level, we’re also exploring ways to be more mindful off the track. Incorporating hydrogen-powered cars into our daily operations is a natural step forward.”
Hydrogen vehicles emit only water vapor, producing zero tailpipe emissions. This clean technology aligns with California’s leadership in hydrogen infrastructure, where Forte Racing is headquartered. The team has been able to leverage the infrastructure and guidance from organizations such as the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Partnership (H2FCP).
Building on this foundation, Forte Racing plans to expand its hydrogen fleet and incorporate additional sustainable options, including synthetic fuel derived from recaptured CO₂ emissions as well as advanced electric and hybrid technologies. These innovations are aimed at making racing not only more sustainable but also more efficient. In addition, the team will continue to explore employee incentive programs that encourage sustainable mobility beyond race weekends.
This initiative reflects Forte Racing’s long-term vision: blending performance, purpose, and progress. From engineering excellence to environmental responsibility, the team is committed to shaping a future where innovation drives every aspect of the racing experience.
